This project describes the proposed collaboration between Czech and US Institutions in study and tests of laboratory samples of adaptive X-ray optics suitable e.g. for the US Generation X Project. In the project, the idea of adaptive X-ray optics is expected to be clearly demonstrated. The Czech participation focuses of detailed study, development and preparation of superior quality flat substrates for the adaptive X-ray optics samples. This is an important part since only extremely high quality of substrates may lead to high quality adaptive X-ray optics. Various alternatives and materials are expected to be exploited and in detail tested in order to achieve the best results. The another part will include piezoelectric precise shaping and control of the surfaces. The successful Czech participation in technology and feasibility study related to the Generation X adaptive X-ray optics project as described in this proposal will be beneficial for both sides. The project is strongly interdisciplinary and (en)
