| Description
| - Earthquakes and active volcanoes are among the most important expressions of recent dynamic of the Earth, with high impact on society. The proposal deals with three scientific objectives: (i) Interpretation of unequal distribution of earthquake foci, in agreement with volcanic history, tectonic structure, sea floor morphology and available results of geodetic measurements. The existence, availability and relatively wide time window of global seismological data (hypocentral determinations 1964-present, focal mechanisms 1976-present) enable to study subduction zone dynamics including 4D comparisons of individual subduction zones. These are great advantages over local or regional “permanent“ and temporary seismic networks that leastwise balance lower precision of global network. In order to meet research directions of big multidisciplinary programs (USA - NSF-“MARGINS”, Germany - DFG-SFB 574 “Subduction Zones”, GB - SE Asia Research Center), we are going to concentrate on the Izu-Bonin-Mariana, Tonga-K (en)

| - Projekt přispěl k poznání procesu migrace a vmísťování magmatu, k interpretaci tektonických příčin nerovnoměrného rozložení silných zemětřesení (mj. v oblasti Indonésie a v oblasti silného japonského zemětřesení 2011) a k vybudování analogové laboratoře Geofyzikálního ústavu. Výsledky byly zveřejněny mj. v 6-ti publikacích s IF 5 dalších publikací je v tisku, resp. v přípravě. (cs)
- The project contributed to the knowledge of magma migration and implacement, to interpretation of causes of irregular distribution of earthquakes (in Indonesia and in the area of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake) and to the establishment of the analog lab of the Institute of Geophysics. The results have bee published in 6 papers in journals with IF 5 manuscripts are either in print or in preparation. (en)
