Description
  • The project aims to develop novel interdisciplinary approaches to quantitative analysis of capillary networks and their spatial arrangement and introduce a detailed, step-by-step program providing a rigorous tool for comparison of capillary beds in different compartments of rat brain, irradiated with different doses of proton or Iron-56 radiation. Special methods for image pre-processing, segmentation and analysis of three-dimensional (3D) digital images of capillaries acquired by a confocal microscope will be developed. 3D arrangement of capillary bed in gray matter (cortex) and white matter (e.g. corpus callosum) will be studied by visualization of 3D image data acquired by a confocal microscope using interactive, semi-automatic and/or automatic approach based on computer reconstructions and virtual reality.   • We developed new methods for pre-processing, segmentation, visualization, and analysis of 3D images of capillaries, acquired by confocal microscopy. The methods were implemented in special software modules. We proved that the methods are well applicable for measurement of capillary length in rat brain. In general, the methods can be used for length estimation of tubular or fibrous structures. (en)
  • Byly vyvinuty nové metody pro předzpracování, segmentaci, vizualizaci a analýzu trojrozměrných obrazů kapilár, nasnímaných konfokálním mikroskopem, a implementovány ve formě speciálních softwarových modulů. Byla prokázána dobrá použitelnost těchto metod pro měření délky kapilár v krysím mozku. Vyvinuté metody mají obecnější využití při měření délky tubulárních či vláknitých struktur. (cs)
