Description
  • Bipolar membranes resemble a laminate of cation- and anion-exchange materials. Under the influence of an electric field, accelerated water splitting takes place in their intermediate layer (junction), therefore OH- and H+ are fed into adjacent liquid streams and ecologically generate acids/bases from dissolved salts.The mechanism of the process is not completely understood and should be elucidated in order to rationalize BPM formation and relevant technologies. In the project investigations of mass transport by electrochemical methods both in DC (for application) and AC (nondestructive tools) will be performed. These methods require further refinements (measuring cells, electrodes, experimental conditions) in the first year. In the second period water splitting productivity, electrolytical conductance, oriented concentration potentials, Volt/Ampere characteristics of new bipolar membranes will be studied. Impedance spectra will be used to investigate properties of different layers of BPM. (en)
  • Příprava bipolárních membrán, vývoj metod pro jejich posuzování a stanovení kriterií jejich použitelnosti v technologii a ekologii. Zaměření na výzkum dějů v mezivrstvě. Využití elektrochemických metod včetně analýzy impedančních spekter. Hlavní metody: Orientované koncentrační potenciály, voltampérové charakteristiky, stanovení vodivosti, analýza závislosti reálné a imaginární složky impedance na frekvenci s cílem navržení vestižních náhradních obvodů.
