Description	The main contents of the presented project is the update and building up of the network in the Institute of Physical Engi-neering (IPE) of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (UWB) including its connection with the fast UWB network, consisting in the exchange of the driving computer and in the installation of two switches for connection of this workplace by an optical fibre to the network WEBnet of UWB. It will make possible the substantial acceleration of the direct connection to the supercomputer DEC 8400 Turbo Laser in the supercompu-ter centre of UWB, which will unable to solve extensive research calculations of mechanics of the rigid and yielding bodys, biomechanics and hydrodynamics on our workplace with an utilization of the finite element method (FEM). Further, it will make possible the connection with the cooperation workplaces in Prague and in Brno and thus the utilization of their computation and experimental devices. (en) Hlavní náplní předkládaného projektu je provedení modernizace a dobudování počítačové sítě v Ústavu fyzikálního inženýrství (ÚFY) Západočeské univerzity v Plzni (ZČU) včetně jejího napojení na rychlou síť ZČU, spočívající ve výměně řídícího počítače a instalaci dvou switchů pro připojení tohoto pracoviště optickým vláknem na síť WEBnet ZČU. Tím dojde k podstatnému zrychlení přístupu na superpočítač DEC 8400 Turbolaser v superpočítačovém centru ZČU, což umožní pracovišti řešit rozsáhlé vědecko-výzkumné úlohy z oblasti mechaniky tuhých a poddajných těles, biomechaniky a hydrodynamiky s využitím metody konečných prvků (MKP). Dále to umožní napojení spolupracujících pražských a brněnských pracovišť a tím využití jejich výpočetních a experimentálních zařízení.
