| Description
| - One of the basic conditions of %22open%22 libraries is to make their catalogues, which represent the keys to their collections, widely available. Retrospective conversion of catalogues describing collections of different Czech libraries would require the amount of money that will never be available. The less money we have, the better should be agreement on our priorities. The first candidates for allocation of funding available for retrospective conversion should be the libraries that have colections of keyimportance for ILL and/or protecting the national cultural heritage. They should also have traditionally a high level of cataloguing expertise. The National Library of the Czech Republic, the Moravian Library in Brno and the State Research Library in Oloomouc meet all these demands. The goal of their agreed-upon project is making their catalogues widely available. They will develop and use the same technology. (en)
- Klíčem k širokému zpřístupnění fondů knihoven je retrospektivní konverze jejich katalogů. Retrospektivní konverze katalogů všech českých knihoven by vyžadovala stovky miliónů Kč. Protože vždy bude k dispozici jen malý zlomek této částky, je třeba prostředky, které jsou k dispozici, využít co nejefektivněji. Důležitá je zejména eliminace du(multi)plicitního převodu záznamů týchž dokumentů a správná volba priorit. Nejvyšší prioritu by měly mít katalogy těch knihoven, jejichž fondy mají stěžejní význam promeziknihovní výpůjční službu a/nebo záchranu národního kulturního dědictví a v nichž byla tradičně vysoká úroveň katalogizace. NK, MZK a SVKOL splňují všechna uvedená kriteria. Cílem společně předkládaných projektů je rychlé a efektivní zpřístupnění kataalogů všech tří knihoven formou účinné kooperace založené na jednotné technologii a podpořené komplexním informačním systémem.
