| Description
| - Intensive foraging activity of big herbivory species results in high impact on the structure and species diversity of forest and especially on the understory shrub layer. This negative impact on vegetation can by reduced by lowering its population density. This reduction should not lead to the elimination of ungulates from the forest ecosystems as it plays a natural and important role there. The main aim of this project is to establish methodology for estimating the big game species densities, its monitoring and technique foe estimating the impact on vegetation and the role of big predators on the population of ungulates. This methodolgy should be included into the law of norms. This would be an effective contribution to the optimalisation of big game management from the viewpoint of forestry, nature praservation and also gamekeeping. (en)
- Intenzivní pastva velkých herbivorů má za následek narušení struktury porostů dřevin keřového patra v lesních porostech. Odstranění negativního vlivu býložravců na vegetaci lze dosáhnout snížením jejich populační hustoty. Redukce stavů by však neměla překročit určitou mez, která by vyloučila velkou zvěř z lesních ekosystémů, kde hraje svoji přirozenou roli. Cílem projektu je vypracovat metodiky na stanovení populační hustoty velkých druhů zvěře a její monitoring, na vyhodnocení impaktu herbivorů na vegetaci a na zhodnocení vlivu šelem na populace býložravců. Tyto metodiky začlenit do právních norem tak, aby účinně přispěly k optimalizaci hospodaření se zvěří z pohledu lesního hospodářství, ochrany přírody i myslivosti.
