Description
  • Nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) spectroscopy is radio frequency nondestructive analytical method. Unique advantages over other more conventional spectroscopic techniques, like nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is absence a strong static magnetic field. NQR has a great potential in the field of detection of solid state materials because of its ability to distinguish between different chemical species. Of particular current interest detection of dangerous or illicit substances, such as explosive compounds and drugs. In comparison with methods detecting on traces of vapours NQR does not depend on vapour tension of chemical substances. NQR spectra are compound specific and thus it is potentially useful for analyses of mixtures. Currently there are no commercial laboratory instruments produced and spectral databases of compounds of the interest are in their infancy. It is proposed to build experimental NQR spectrometer and to study NQR spectra of industrial explosives and titanocene complexes. (en)
