Description
  • Photocatalytic process on TiO2 has the potential for many applications. Apart from technologies for water and air purification (deodoration), a great deal of attention is paid to self-cleaning surfaces made of thin transparent TiO2 layer. Such layers are prepared by the sol-gel process, during which a liquid precursor (sol) is applied to substrate and after its gelation, drying and calcination, a layer of oxide is obtained. Sol is applied to the substrate by spin or dip coating. Both these methods are burdened by disadvantages (limited coated area, sensitivity to defects, poor efficiency of sol utilization). Therefore a more suitable method would be benefitial. Microdispezing, i.e. piezoelectric printing of a sol onto a solid substrate, might be such a method. This project deals with the employment of piezoelectric printing for the preparation of thin layers of TiO2. Various titanium sol formulations will be optimized for use in piezoelectric printing. These optimized sols will then be printed onto various substrates using modified office inkjet printer and a special RIP. (en)
