Currently, the majority of failures and accidents in service is due to the fatigue processes and degradation of the materials´ properties during long term exploitation and also due to the effect of ambient environment. In order to ensure the safety and reliability of structural components made of newly developed materials, it is necessary to know the nature of the processes taking place during their repetitive loading. The project is focused on the evaluation of fatigue properties of selected die-cast magnesium alloys. The outcomes of the project will permit complex assessment of the fatigue life of examined magnesium alloys in the as-cast and corroded state. The asset of the project will be the evaluation of the production method, microstructure of the material achieved and its chemical composition as well as the influence of the corrosion environment on the fatigue life of these Mg alloys.
