Description
  • The femtosecond-scale parametric response governed by the third-order non-linear susceptibility provides the physical means for efficient phase preserving signal processing. Parametric processes in highly non-linear optical fibres can offer a wide range of applications in signal processing of high-bit rate optical signals. As an example we can mention parametric amplification in wavelength ranges where optical amplifiers based on rare-earth-doped fibres can not be applied, multiwavelength conversion of ultra-fast modulated signals with parametric gain, regeneration of signals, demultiplexing of high bit rate optically time division multiplexed (OTDM) signals ( with bit rates 100Gb/s and higher) to tributary 10Gb/s streams. We will concentrate on amplification of wavelength-division-multiplexed (WDM) signals in 2 pumps fibre optical amplifiers (FOPA) and power transients caused by WDM channel addition/removal. We will further focus on demultiplexing of OTDM RZ signals with bit rates 100Gb/s and higher based on 10GHZ clock pulsed pump FOPA. (en)
