| Description
| - The research team, comprised of foremost Czech specialists in Hispanic and Lusophonic countries in Europe, Africa and Latin America, will focus on non-democratic regimes in the period from the acquiring of political independence on the turn of the 20th and 21st century. The origin of the new African countries and the lack of stability on Latin-America bring different types of non-democratic regimes. There are new mechanisms of their origin, development and decline, which enables scholars to reinterpretand expand the theoretical conclusions of their predecessors about the totalitarian and authoritarian regimes. An attention will be given to the essential question as why and how these non-democratic regimes arise, what their principal features are, which political actors play the most important role in these processes, and what position the power elite and individuals have. - Výzkumný tým složený z předních českých odborníků na hispánské a lusofonní země v Evropě, Africe a Latinské Americe se zaměří na vybrané nedemokratické režimy v časovém období od získání politické nezávislosti do přelomu 20. a 21. století. Vznik nových afrických států a nestabilita latinskoamerických zemí s sebou přináší nové typy nedemokratických režimů. Objevují se různorodé mechanismy vzniku, vývoje a zániku nedemokratických režimů, které umožňují přehodnotit a rozšířit některé dřívější teoretické závěry o totalitních a autoritářských režimech. Pozornost bude věnována základním otázkám, proč a jak vznikají či přežívají nedemokratické režimy, jaké mají základní rysy, kteří političtí aktéři hrají v těchto procesech nejdůležitější úlohu, jaké postavení zaujímají mocenské elity, případně jednotlivci. Badatelé se zaměří na analýzu úlohy politických stran, armády, církve, pozornost bude věnována ideologiím těchto režimů a budou se řešit otázky spojené s transformací těchto režimů. Výzkum se bude
