Description	The project follows and evolves the results of the first Czech archaeological expedition to Mesopotamia, realized in 2006 - 2007, focused on evaluation and research of the important ancient and medieval urban centre Urbillum (Arbela), which remains are situated in the city of Arbil, north Iraq. A planned reconstruction of the monumental area (former citadel) on the top of the at least 7000 years continuously settled artificial mound opens the unique opportunity to deepen the knowledge of the stratigraphy and chronology of this exceptional monument through areal-applied non-destructive survey and other archaeological methods. The survey and recording of the seriously endangered corpus of the Late Ottoman domestic architecture of the citadel belongs also to priorities of the project. The projec will be realized in cooperation with Department of Archaeology of Salahaddin University at Arbil and will have therefore also wider methodological and educational dimension. (en) Projekt navazuje na výsledky první české archeologické expedice do Mezopotámie, která se v letech 2006 - 2007 zabývala výzkumem významného starověkého městského centra Urbillum (Arbela), jehož pozůstatky se nacházejí uprostřed dnešní živé severoirácké metropole Arbíl. Příprava rekonstrukce památkově významné citadely, která spočívá na vrcholku starověkého sídlištního pahorku, otevírá unikátní možnost prohloubit poznání nejméně 7000 let souvisle osídlené lokality pomocí plošně aplikovaného nedestruktivního archeologického průzkumu a dalších metod. Mezi důležité priority patří také dokumentace vážně ohroženého cenného souboru pozdně osmanské architektury citadely. Projekt bude uskutečněn ve spolupráci s Katedrou archeologie Salahaddínovy univerzity v Arbílu a bude mít tedy širší přesah didaktický a metodický.
