Description	The analysis of the process of modernization has formed one of the basic elements of the sociological theory since the beginning of the discipline. At the end of the 20th century these theories reflect the fall of the Eastern block and the processes of the globalization. The subject of the modernization has been transferred to political and media discourse. The submitted project intends to analyse the theories of modernization not only on the theoretical level but also on the applied one. The aim of the project is to sum up critically the weaknesses of these theories and to eliminate the different sediments of its disinterpretations in the political and media discourse. The output of the project will be a book presenting a detailed critical analysisof the development of the theories of modernization in this context. (en) Analýza procesu modernizace tvoří jeden ze základních prvků sociologické teorie, a to od samého počátku této disciplíny. Koncem 20. století tyto teorie reflektují pád východního bloku a procesy globalizace. Téma modernizace bylo přeneseno do politického a mediálního diskurzu. Předložený projekt chce analyzovat teorie modernizace nejen v teoretické rovině, ale také v rovině aplikované. Cílem projektu je kriticky shrnout slabiny těchto teorií a odstranit různé vrstvy jeho dezinterpretací v politickém a mediálním diskurzu. Výstupem projektu bude kniha prezentující podrobnou kritickou analýzu vyvoje teorií modernizace v tomto širším kontextu.
