Description	Our research uses survey methods to gauge the extent of tax evasion in the Czech and Slovák Republics. Detailed information on these countries needs be gathered ovio the long term to understand the reasons for tax evasion and to estimate the sociál costsof tax evasion. We will pay particular attention to the influence on evasion of morality and perceived quality of government services. We will also conduct limited surveys of other Eastern European countries in order to form stylized facts concerning therelation between the level of development of transition economies and their extent of tax evasion and associated sociál costs. The proposal that foliows builds on two years of work funded in part by Global Development Network Grant and EU Phare grant. (en) Navrhovaný výzkum má za cíl studovat šedou ekonomiku a míru daňových úniků v České a Slovenské republice. Jako hlavní nástroj bude použita série výběrových šetření (navazující na výzkumy a data prováděná v rámci grantů Phare a Global development network). V menších rozsahu budou výzkumy provedeny také v ostatních transitorních ekonomikách s cílem formulovat vztahy týkající se úrovně jednotlivých ekonomik, jejich míry šedé ekonomiky a nákladů s tím spojených včetně tzv. %22social costs%22. Díky předchozím projektům může být zkoumána i dynamika celkového vývoje šedé ekonomiky, včetně interakcí s výse popsanými faktory v čase. Předchozí data zahrnují roky 2000 a 2002.
