Description
| - The main objective of the proposed project is deeper understanding of selected phenomena related to magnetism in intermetallics with a special emphasis on behavior under extreme conditions. The main targets of our theoretical and experimental investigation will be phenomena related with magnetism of reduced 5f moments, nature of the nonmagnetic state in UCoAl and pseudoternary analogues, instabilities in antiferromagnets of UNiAl and CePtSn type, anisotropic magnetoelastic phenomena in uranium and rare-earth compounds with transition metals. The experiments will include study of magnetic, magnetotransport, magnetoelastic properties under extreme conditions (high magnetic fields, high hydrostatic pressure over a large temperature range)together with microscopic aspects treated by diffraction methods, neutron scattering and magnetic circular dichroism. - Cílem navrhovaného projektu je hlubší pochopení vybraných jevů, vztahujících se k magnetismu v intermetalických sloučeninách, se speciálním důrazem na chování v extrémních podmínkách. Teoretický a experimentální výzkum bude zaměřen především na jevy spojené s magnetismem redukovaných 5f momentů, podstatou nemagnetického stavu v UCoAl a pseudoternárních analogů, nestabilit v antifero-magnetikách typu UNiAl a CePtSn, anisotropní magnetoelastické jevy ve sloučeninách uranu a vzácných zemin s přechodovými kovy. Experimentální výzkum bude zahrnovat studium magnetických, magneto-transportních a magnetoelastických vlastností za extrémních podmínek (vysoká magnetická pole, vysoké tlaky v širokém teplotním intervalu) společně s mikroskopickými aspekty, zkoumanými pomocí difrakčních metod, neutronovým rozptylem a magnetickým cirkulárním dichroismem. K posouzení extrémní citlivosti elektronových vlastností a výrazných změn elektronové struktury k vnějším podmínkám budou použity ab-initio metody
