Nano-structural titanium [hereinafter (n)Ti] seems to be particularly perspective material for these purposes. The proposed project will focus on production of (n)Ti and on experimental verification of its properties, as well as on comparison of these properties with those of other materials used for dental implants. The main objective of the proposed project is production of (n)Ti by the ECAP process, investigation of parameters of the ECAP process influencing grain formation and properties of (n)Ti. Classical titanium will be produced and its transformation to (n)Ti will be made at the Technical University of Mining and Metallurgy in Ostrava (VŠB-TUO). The research will be concentrated on physical principle of strengthening and softening processes occurring at the grain boundaries during the ECAP process under semi-heat conditions. Wire made from (n)Ti be deformation processes will have strength approx. 1250 MPa. verification of properties of (n)Ti is based on investigation of micro-structure and mechanical properties, tests of bio-compatibility and measurement of basic electro-chemical characteristics. Wires made of (n)Ti will be used for manufacture of dental implants, the properties of which will be then verified. (en)
