Description
  • Proposed grant project is devoted to the study of hydrogen embrittlement in the progressive TRIP steels (transformation induced plasticity). Three kinds of TRIP steels with different chemical composition will be studied: classical CMnSi TRIP steels, furthermore modified TRIP steels with higher Al content and also modified TRIP steels with higher P content. Hydrogen embrittlement will be evaluated by means of 3 kinds of tensile tests on electrolytically hydrogen charged specimens. Tensile tests on previously hydrogen charged specimens will be performed, furthermore slow strain rate tensile tests on simultaneously hydrogen charged specimens and also constant load tensile tests on simultaneously hydrogen charged specimens. Materials will be tested in the initial state without cold deformation but also after different levels of the cold deformation resulting in deformation induced martensitic transformation. Detailed structure and fractographic analysis will be performed for all studied materials. The main result of the project will be better understanding of the process of hydrogen embrittlement in the TRIP steels. It will be possible to define parameters which are decisive to decrease the risk of hydrogen embrittlement in this kind of steels. (en)
