The project aims at developing a model of the properties of the particulate composites with crosslinked polymer matrix. Particularly, the relation will be found between crosslinked matrix structure and matrix elastic behavior on one side versus deformation behavior of the composite responding to mechanical loading or swelling stresses on the other side. Network structure will be modeled using statistical and kinetic simulations. Elasticity will be expressed involving the junction fluctuation and finite extensibility models. The aim involves model predictions for composite swelling changes and stress-strain relations for swollen composite. The resulting model will take into account crosslinked polymer matrix structure on the molecular scale for predicting the stress-strain behavior of composite on macroscopic scale. The results will be tested experimentally on model composite series. Composite deformation behavior, composite swelling and deformation behavior in swollen state will be tested. (en)
Síťová struktura bude simulována statistickými a kinetickými metodami a elastické chování pomocí modelu s omezenými fluktuacemi uzlů a omezenou roztažností řetězce. Součástí cíle je předpovědět změny chování nabotnalého kompozitu. Matematický model zohlední strukturu polymerní sítě matrice na molekulární úrovni a vyjádří stavy napjatosti a chování kompozitu na makroskopické úrovni. Celkového řešení bude dosaženo implementací konstitutivních vztahů odvozených na základě molekulárních modelů do metody konečných prvků. Výsledky modelování budou ověřeny experimentálně na modelové řadě kompozitů. Bude testováno deformační chování kompozitu v lineární i nelineární oblasti, botnání a deformační chování
A finite element method (FEM) model was developed for predicting equilibrium deformational and swelling properties of particulate composites with rubbery cross-linked polymer matrix and limits of their failure. The model was validated by comparing the results with mechanical and swelling properties of cross-linked poly(methyl methacrylate) and polyurethane composite filled with inorganic fillers. (en)
