The main aim of the proposed project is development of innovated building envelope systems based on autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) using theoretical and experimental analyses of their performance in various conditions. In the development process, mechanical and durability properties of materials forming the innovated building envelopes will be measured first. Then, computational analysis of hygrothermal conditions in innovated envelope systems using long-term simulations of coupled water and heat transport with the measured water and heat transport and storage properties will be done. Service life prediction analysis of innovated building envelopes will be performed using mechanical properties data, results of computational modeling of coupled water and heat transport and results of freeze resistance experiments. Finally, guidelines for designing AAC-based structures making it possible to increase significantly their durability and service life and reduce the whole life costs will be formulated. (en)
