  • The aim of the project is in consecution of the previous project QD 1408 ensure continuity of the research of chosen problems of plum growing in the Czech Republic and on a basis of achieved results to improve existing growing systems of this species. Emphasis of the research will be put on a choice of prune or plum cultivars and rootstocks with high quality of the fruit that should be suitable for climatic and soil condition of the Czech Republic. The next focus of the research will be improving fruit quality of prunes and plums by using some growing measures, application of selected chemicals for fruit thinning, optimizing of nitrogen fertilising and foliar applications of fertilisers for additional foliar nutrition. Also research of other options of planting protection against sharka (PPV) spread and breeding of new cultivars with a resistance to the disease will be continued including the next stage of crossings.
