  • Hlavním cílem projektu je detailní poznání úlohy S-nitrosylace, S-nitrosothiolů a S-nitrosoglutathionreduktasy v rostlinné odpovědi na stresové podněty a ve vývoji pathogenů pro šlechtění a transformaci rostlin se zvýšenou odolnost na stresové podmínky. (cs)
  • S-nitrosylation has emerged as a crucial redox-based reversible signaling mechanism in plant response to pathogenic challenge. The goal is to perform analysis of temporal and spatial modulation of S-nitrosothiols levels and expression of their catabolic enzymes as S-nitrosoglutathione reductase (GSNOR) during pathogenic infection in the cells and tissues of plants and pathogens. By a combination of biochemical, pharmacological and genetic approaches we will test the hypothesis on the relationship of S-nitrosothiol level and S-nitrosoglutathione reductase activity and plant resistance, as well as the role of S-nitrosothiols, protein S-nitrosylation and nitrosative stress in plant hypersensitive reaction and systemic response. Research will be performed on model systems including plants of high agronomical importance like tomato, lettuce and cucumber, and their relevant pathogens downy and powdery mildews. The obtained knowledge will be potentially applicable for plant genetic manipulation and breeding (en)
