Experimentální studium základních zákonitostí mikrosvěta pomocí aparatury ATLAS. Hledání nových částic a jevů majících zásadní význam pro pochopení struktury hmoty, ověřování Standardního modelu elementárních částic a způsobů jeho dalšího zobecnění. (cs)
The aim of the project is to ensure financial support for Czech academic and university institutions participating in the research of structure of matter and its basic components using the ATLAS apparatus at LHC (Large Hadron Collider) accelerator in the European centre for particle research CERN, Geneva, Switzerland. In 2008 will be accomplished the construction of the LHC accelerator which will accelerate and collide proton beams of the total energy 14 TeV, which is nearly by one order higher than energy ever reached before. Experiments, which will be performed using these facilities, will provide new and fundamental information about the structure of matter significantly exceeding present frontiers of our knowledge. It will verify theoretical hypothesis about the existence of Higgs boson, the existence of super-symmetric partners to known elementary particles, it will enable to investigate the so-called CP violation in the universe observed by us, etc. Czech researchers participate more than ten (en)
