Description	V současnosti se výzkum aterosklerózy soustředí na určení genetických dispozic k tomuto onemocnění a na neinvazivní stanovení jeho přítomnosti ještě před klinickou manifestací. V oblasti biochemického výzkumu je současně značná pozornost věnována procesureverzního transportu cholesterolu a velikosti LDL částic. Cílem projektu je spojit studium aterosklerotického procesu v oblasti genetické, biochemické a klinické v reprezentativním vzorku české populace a u vysoce rizikových jedinců. Ve sledovaných populacích bude zjištěna distribuce polymorfismu genu pro apolipoprotein E a angiotensin-1- konvertující enzymu, v oblasti biochemické bude stanoven význam zpětného transportu cholesterolu a velikosti LDL-částic, jako preklinické stadium aterosklerózy bude změřena tloušťka intimy- medie na arteriae carotides dvourozměrným ultrazvukovým vyšetřením. V oblasti klinické pak bude sledován vliv hypolipemické, případně hormonální terapie u pacientů s ischemickou chorobou srdeční (ICHS) na uvedené parametry a (cs) "Main investigation activities in the field of artherosclerosis are concentrated on genetical factors of atherosclerotic process and non-invasive detection of premature atherosclerosis in peripheral vessels yet before development of clinical comlications. In the biochemical field attention is focused on reverse cholesterol transport. The main objective of our project is a complex study of the process of atherosclerosis from genetical, biochemical, preclinical and clinical point of view in a Czech population and in the high-risk individuals. Distribution of polymorphism of genes coding for apolipoprotein E and angiotensin-1-converting enzyme will be evaluated, together with the distribution of values representing reverse cholesterol transporand density of LDL-particles; preclinical ""surrogate endpoints"" will be expressed as an intima-media thickness of carotid arteries measured by ultrasound.
