Description	"Plevele tvoří nejproblematičtější aspekt rostlinné produkce. Predace semen jako součást přirozené kontroly plevelů může dosahovat až 90% produkce semen. Jednou z nejdůležitějších skupin predátorů semen jsou střevlíkovití brouci (Coleoptera: Carabidae). Největší překážkou využití střevlíkovitých jako predátorů semen je jejich kolísavý výskyt. Aby je bylo možné cíleně využít jako ""živý herbicid"", je nutné zjistit jejich nároky na prostředí. Již dříve bylo zjištěno, že porosty plevelů zvyšují biodiverzitustřevlíkovitých. Jak se ale složení společenstva granivorních střevlíkovitých mění se složením společenstev plevelů však není dosud známo. Toto bude cílem tohoto projektu. Protože různé druhy preferují různé druhy semen jako potravu, lze předpokládat, žespolečenstva střevlíkovitých budou odlišná pro různá společenstva plevelů. Objasnění těchto vztahů bude možné využít při tvorbě takového prostředí, které umožní zvýšit populační hustotu střevlíkovitých a zároveň udržet společenstva plevelů na únosné" (cs) "Weed control is the most difficult aspect of crop production. Seed predation may remove over 90% of the dispersed seed and is a part of natural weed control. Ground beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) are important seed predators but their role of a ""living herbicide"" is limited by the fluctuation in abundance. Increasing their efficiency needs to make the field environment more friendly. Therefore their requirements for habitats should be studied. Diversity of carabids increases with abundance of weeds, but the effect of particular composition of weed assemblage on community structure of granivorous carabid beetles is not known. This will be studied in the research project. Because different carabid species have preference for particular seed species, the diversification in carabid fauna between weed patches is expected. Establishing these relationships may be used in creating environment, which will promote population density of granivorous carabids and reduce the assemblages of weeds to density" (en)
