Description	Náplní navrhovaného projektu je využití malých vodních ploch jako modelových systémů pro výzkum biodiverzity,a to testováním hypotéz o vlivu konektivity, disperze organismů a kolonizace na společenstva a fungování ekosystému. Cílem je charakterizovat relativní význam migrace (regionální proces) v kontrastu k významu lokálních procesů, které determinují složení a rozmanitost lokálních společenstev, charakterizovat význam historických vlivů (efekt priority, zprostředkovaný existující bankou propagulí) a dále kvantifikovat efekt diverzity (jak vnitro-, tak mezidruhové) na funkci ekosystému, se zvláštním zřetelem k efektivitě využívání vodních zdrojů společenstvem a odolnosti vůči disturbancím (včetně inrodukcí nepůvodních druhů). V rámci mezinárodního konsorcia uchazečů budou uvedené jevy studovány kombinací 1) popisných přístupů (využitím stávajících dat z existujících projektů a doplněním o specifická data z dalších oblastí včetně ČR), 2) polopřirozených kolonizačních experimentů na nově zakládaných (cs) The main aim of the project is to use pond communities as model systems for testing targeted hypotheses in biodiversity research, both in terms and local drivers of biodiversity as well as of its effects on ecosystem functioning. Our emphasis will lie onthe impact of dispersal, colonization and priority effects on community build-up and its consequences for ecosystem functioning. The objectives are to characterise the relative importance of migration (determined by regional factors) versus assemblage processes (driven by local factors) in determining the composition and richness of local communities, and the impact of historical effects (i.e. priority effects, mediated by propagule.bank build up), large scale heterogeneity and disturbance upon them, and to quantify the effect of diversity and genetic variation on ecosystem function, with particular regard to exploitation efficiency and biotic resistance to biological invasions.
