| - The project called Biographical Dictionary of Bohemia and Moravia is aimed at preparing a series of biographies summarizing verified data related to the life, work and role of selected outstanding individuals. The Biographical Dictionary will provide biograms of persons born or living, at least for some time, in the country, or having some other relations to it irrespective of his or her ethnic origin. The main criterion of selection is the importance of the life's work of each individual, and therefore only persons who had died or whose work had been completed before the end of the year 2000 will be included. Due to the large scope of the task (the Dictionary is supposed to contain over 20,000 biograms)only a part of the work can be accomplished within the next three years. After drawing up the list of entries (the last portion has been published in 2001) the text will be written and, part by part, the Dictionary will be published at regular intervals. - Cílem projektu Biografický slovník českých zemí je připravit a vydat soubor biografií, ve kterých budou shrnuta vědecky ověřená data o životě, díle a významu vybraných osobností. Slovník zpřístupní biogramy osob narozených v českých zemích, po určitou dobu zde působících nebo jinak spjatých s českým prostředím bez ohledu na jejich etnickou příslušnost. Kritériem výběru je význam životního díla toho kterého jednotlivce, proto budou ve vydaném textu jen osobnosti, které zemřely do konce roku 2000 a jejich dílo se uzavřelo. Vzhledem k rozsahu vytčeného úkolu (slovník zpřístupní výhledově více než 20OOO biogramů) je možno v příštích třech letech zpracovat část úkolu. Po ukončení hesláře (poslední svazek vyšel v roce 2000) bude zahájena textace a pravidelné vydávání slovníku. Součástí úkolu bude i řešení metodologických a teoretických otázek biografického výzkumu.
