| Description
| - The aim of the project is a research and interpretation of the Coptic manuscripts from the Egyptian area of Nag Hammadi. These manuscripts, originated within the 2nd-5th centuries AD, are divided into several codexes. The most important are the CodexesI, II and III since they are the most preserved and complete. These tracts were read by the Gnostic Christians who might have recommended them further. They enable us the view at alternative ancient Christian trends that we knew about via the indirectinformation from polemics of the church authors in the 2nd -4th centuries. A special team has been formed on the basis of the Circle of Coptology in the Centre for Biblical Studies at the Charles University and the Academy of Science in Prague. This teamintends to deal with the complex research of these ancient texts in the following decade. This project that we submit to GA CR is an initial phase of the abovementioned long-term research. - Cílem projektu je výzkum a interpretace koptských rukopisů z egyptské oblasti Nag Hammádí. Tyto rukopisy, pocházející ze 2. - 5. stol. n. l., jsou rozděleny do několika kodexů. Nejzajímavější, protože nejlépe zachované a tedy nejúplnější, jsou kodexy I.,II. a III. Jde o traktáty, které byly mezi gnostickými křesťany čteny a zřejmě i doporučovány. Umožňují nám tak jedinečný pohled na alternativní křesťanské proudy ve starověku, o nichž donedávna bylo možno získat jen nepřímé informace z polemikcírkevních autorů 2. až 4. století. V Centru biblických studií (Centre for biblical studies) v uplynulých letech vznikl na bázi Koptologického kruhu tým, který se v budoucích 10 letech chce zabývat komplexním zkoumáním těchto pozdně starověkých textů.Projekt, který předkládáme GA ČR, je počáteční fází uvedeného dlouhodobého výzkumu.
