Description
| - The aim is to improve our understanding of physiological and pathophysiological processes on molecular, cellular, organ and whole-body levels to increase our knowledge of theoretical basis of human medicine. Molecular and cellular physiology will focus on the relationship between structure and function of key regulatory molecules, metabolism, bioenergetics, membrane transport, rapid signal transduction and their genetic determination. At the level of organ and system physiology the Institute will investigate developmental aspects and causes of obesity, atherosclerosis and hypertension. Further attention will be paid to the function of cardiovascular system, to mechanisms and consequences of early brain damage and to integrative function of neural system. The obtained results will contribute to the elucidation of pathogenesis of important human metabolic, cardiovascular and neural diseases in order to improve their diagnostics and to search for new therapeutic and prevention approaches. - Cílem výzkumu je získávat nové poznatky o fyziologických a patofyziologických procesech na úrovni molekulární, buněčné, orgánové i celého organismu směřující k prohloubení znalostí teoretických základů humánní medicíny. Na úrovni molekulární a buněčné fyziologie bude studován vztah mezi strukturou a funkcí klíčových regulačních molekul, látková přeměna a energetický metabolismus buněk, transportní funkce buněčných membrán, mechanismy rychlého přenosu signálů mezi buňkami a uvnitř buněk a genetická determinace těchto funkcí. Na úrovni orgánové a systémové bude ústav zkoumat vývojové aspekty příčiny vzniku obezity, aterosklerózy a hypertenze a dále funkci srdce a oběhového systému a integrativní funkce nervové soustavy. Výsledky přispějí k objasnění patogeneze závažných metabolických, kardiovaskulárních a nervových onemocnění člověka s cílem zlepšit jejich diagnostiku a hledat nové cesty účinné terapie a prevence.
