Description
| - This paper is focused on the cadmium accumulation by aboveground biomass of oat, maize, spring barley and poppy grown on two soils with different soil Cd contamination and on effect of rotation of these cultivated crops on Cd accumulation. Cadmium is readily available to plants from soil source, therefore its concentration rapidly increased in all plants growing in more polluted soil - Chernozem. The highest Cd increase was determined in maize biomass growing on Chernozem and closely responded to Cd soil content increase. The results showed differences of Cd plant uptake in dependence on crop rotation. First year low accumulation of barley was caused by its low ability to release soil Cd from firm bounds. Oat and maize affected the Cd accumulation in directly growing crops due to plant residues leaving on the soils after the harvest and their decomposition and due to release of exudates affecting mobility of cadmium in the soils. The analyses of soils confirmed the results of Cd uptake by plants and
