  • The problems of toxicity regarding the users of small arms have been investigated for a long time - since black powder began to be used in the field of cartridges design. Toxicity of small arms ammunition has been studied intensively since the early 1970s when a great quantity of lead in blood tests of FRG´s policemen was detected. The initial studies and chemical analyses proved contamination by lead and generally by heavy metals and their oxides caused by the used ignition compound SINOXID based on lead stiphnate and also by the vaporization of lead from a bullet bottom during a shot. Intensive research and development work followed (and this process still continues even with higher effort) in the field of toxicity at production of cartridges and especially in the sphere of use with respect to the end user.
