Description	Towards the standardization of the preanalytical phase : This course is sponsored by the EU-funded project SPIDIA which aims to tackle the standardization and improvement of pre-analytical procedures. Whithin this project ring trials with about 220 laboratories have been performed to evaluate the performance of the pre-analytical phase at a European level. Topics covered during the course include: Revision and discussion of the results in the SPIDIA DNA and RNA ring trials. Evaluation of the protocols and reagents used by the laboratories to identify systematic causes of poor performance. How to set up internal validation and quality control procedures. Other means to benchmark laboratory performance. Introduction to Real-Time qPCR : This is a theoretical basic course for beginners that wants to learn the principles of real-time qPCR. It is suitable if you are new in the qPCR area or need a refresher of the basics of how qPCR works and is used. It will help you to get more out of the subsequent symposium. The course contains: Basic PCR theory, how does it work ? The theory of real-time PCR.What can real-time PCR be used for ? Basic qPCR data analysis. The MIQE guidelines, why are they so important ?
