| - The study explored the relationship between prenatal and/or postnatal passive exposure to smoking based on a pooled analysis, on 53,879 children from twelve cross-sectional studies within the PATY study. Effects were estimated, within each study, of three exposures: mother smoked during pregnancy, parental smoking in the first two years, current parental smoking. Logistic regressions controlled for individual risk factors and study area. Heterogeneity between study-specific results, and mean effects were estimated using meta-analytical tools. There was strong evidence linking parental smoking to wheeze, asthma, bronchitis and nocturnal cough, with odds ratios all around 1.15, with independent effects of pre-natal and post-natal exposures for most associations. Adverse effects of both pre- and post-natal parental smoking on children’s respiratory health were confirmed. Estimated effects were not large, but exposures were widespread.

- Studie zjišťovala vztah prenatální a/nebo postnatální expozice pasivnímu kouření založena na poolové analýze 53 879 dětí z 12 průřezových studií v rámci studie PATY. Efekt byl zjišťován v každé studii na základě tří typů expozice: kouření matky v těhotenství, kouření rodičů v prvních dvou letech a současného kouření rodičů. Byla použita logistická regrese s adjustováním na individuální rizikové faktory a studijní oblast. Heterogenita mezi výsledky jednotlivých studií a průměrný efekt byly zjišťovány pomocí meta-analytických nástrojů. Byl prokázán významný vztah kouření rodičů k sípotu, astmatu, bronchitidě a nočnímu kašli s odds ratio kolem 1,15 s nezávislými efekty prenatální a postnatální expozice na většinu vztahů. Zjištěný efekt nebyl velký ale expozice byla obecně rozšířená. (cs)
