Description
(cs)
  • Clusters as geographic agglomerations of companies, suppliers, service providers, and associated institutions in a particular field are considered as important tools that significantly affect competitiveness. It is widely believed that the existence of a cluster increases the productivity of its individual members because companies participating within a cluster have better access to specialised suppliers, employees, information, and training opportunities than isolated firms. Furthermore, the presence of a cluster stimulates the environment for innovation and creates additional sources for productivity growth. Clustering seems to be very popular across Europe in last two decades and there are numerous programmes and policies supporting development of clusters on national as well as European level. The important question is what are the critical factors influencing the successful development of clusters and here we will present some interesting results from the recent survey done by the authors.
