Description
  • Keratin hydrolysates are materials with wide spectrum of utilization. They can be prepared by many different methods of hydrolysis. This article describes wool treatment on keratin hydrolysates by combined two-steps alkali-enzymatic hydrolysis, where the wool was firstly disrupt in calcium hydroxide solution and after that wool is hydrolysed by proteolytic enzyme Esperase 6.0T. Effect of variable factors on amount of degraded wool was observed. At higher conditions almost 60% of wool was decomposed and the factor with highest influence was concentration of alkali. Prepared keratin hydrolysates were characterized by molecular weight distribution by SDS-PAGE electrophoresis method.
