Description
  • Nowadays, various metallic and oxide nanoparticles are used as additives for medical plastics. Here we offer a simple method for preparation of hybrid fillers by microwave assisted synthesis at atmospheric pressure using the adapted domestic microwave oven with the refluxcooling system. Zinc acetate and silver nitrate were used as starting material for microwave synthesis. By this fast method the resulting material can be obtained in several minutes. Prepared microparticles have hexagonal structure of ZnO and contain spherical silver nanoparticles. Furthermore, the structure of as-prepared filler was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The antibacterial activity of the final product was tested against representatives of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
