Description
  • The most spreaded idea of the oldest shoes is connected with early foot coating with animal skin or primitively dressed animal skin. The oldest found shoe in the world comes from Oregon and its age is averaged at about 10.000 years according to the carbon method. The shoes are knitted from the Artemisia fibres. The process of animal skin dressing is very complicated and thus it is possible to guess that the human was able to handle the natural fibres before the dressing. One of the basic, still unanswered questions is the need of warm insulating foot protection in the oldest shoes. Rather large interfibre spaces increase warm insulating numbers and products made of these fibres are able to sufficiently protect the foot or the part of human body.In biomechanic laboratory of Faculty of technology in Tomas Bata Universtiy in Zlin were made Oregon sandals replicas and these were tested by exterior walking under winter and summer conditions. The experiment proofed that these shoes are of excellent warm
