  • Rhytmical human body motion e.g. walking, running, jumping can cause heavy vibrations of structures. There were several accidents of dancing halls, tribunes and footbridges caused by marching, dancing or applauding people. In recent years there have beenexamples of footbridges that have proved to be unacceptably lively to pedestrians. If any of the natural frequency in vertical is in the range 1,6-2,4 Hz or 3,2-4,5 Hz, the dynamic response from moving people can be significant. In the case it is necess ary to calculate the vibrations considering both serviceability and ultimate limit states.
