Description	By dint of experimental short fatigue crack propagation particulars, new crack growth dependences were inferred to express short crack characteristics which partition the physically small crack regime from the long crack mode. A new microstructural threshold condition was to simulate short fatigue cracks. Elastic-plastic fracture mechanics factors were applied to evolving the empirical model for physically small crack propagation. Grain boundaries in steel are obstacles against crack propagation, namelyin the fatigue course. Methods utilizing crack density and dimensional analysis are employed for the evaluation of effects of grain both the size and boundary resistance.
