Description
  • European post-communist countries had to deal with new challenges of landscape development, transitions or degradation. Spatial landscape structure expresses the combination of physical, functional and socio economic components that are changing composition and arrangement over time. While the principles of human society quickly adapted, spatial structures are developing inertial. All questions must be answered by multidisciplinary, progressive sustainable and innovative design strategies with the support of applied research and theoretical studies. We invite all PhD and Master students interested in presenting their ongoing research and results in fields related to the topic and address issues related to recent history, the present and future of urban, periurban and rural landscapes in post-communist European countries. Emphasis will be placed on international and interdisciplinary dialogue from academic and professional perspectives of post communist landscape transformations including landscape architecture, architecture, urbanism, engineering, landscape ecology, social ecology, public policy and economics. Goals of the conference are first to present and discuss recent knowledge and findings of various student projects and thesis. Second, increase collaboration and information exchange between professions that has landscape as a common ground and third to develop a trans- disciplinary framework of cause and effect relationships that influence landscape stability and sustainability for the future.
