  • Photorefractive materials are recording media that can be used for holographic recording. In our contribution, an experimental study of the photorefractive effect in poly(N-vinyl carbazole) (PVK) with N-ethylcarbazole (ECZ) doped with new nonlinear optical chromophores 4-Nitro-2'-acetylamino-4'-(N,N-dimethylamino)azobenzene or 4-Cyano-4'-(N,N-diethylamino)azobenzene is presented. These two chromophores are sensitive enough to the wavelength 532 nm, so no sensitizers are needed. Using the materials, we have demonstrated four-wave mixing experiments with visible laser beams at a room temperature with using a high voltage power supply and without. The writing laser beam had the wavelength 532 nm and the reading laser beam 658 nm.
