Description
  • Recently many researches investigate traffic microstructure in the vicinity of signalized intersections. The reasons for investigations of such a type are obvious (predominantly economic). The correct prediction for distribution of vehicles may lead to relevant estimations of intersection capacity, which finally results in an optimal regulation of traffic flows. There exists models based on thermodynamical concept, but they predict the inter-vehicle gaps only (see \cite{sleis_krbalek} for details). On contrary, this article is focused on modeling of car dynamics when leaving a signalized intersection. A modified car-following model from the driver's perspective, originally investigated in \cite{sleis_cina}, will be presented and statistically analyzed. We will demonstrate that probability density $p(t|\beta)$ for departure headways yielding by the model follows the distribution $p(t|\beta) = \theta(t)A\,\mathrm{e}^{-\frac{\beta}{t}}\mathrm{e}^{-Dt},$ analytically derived for local thermodynamical model with socio-physical repulsion among succeeding vehicles (see Ref. \cite{sleis_krbalek_2}). Vehicular dynamics, i.e. driving modes and updating rules for the model will be discussed in detail. Subsequently, different gap initialization and steady state of the model will be analyzed. As the conclusion the results and plans for future research will be presented.
