  • Molecular templating in the sol-gel process represents a unique approach in production of uniform particles efficient as parts of sensors and other electrochemical devices. Major focus of this work was to produce a series of TiO2 thin films under otherwise constant conditions, but varying the molecular structure of the templates, and then relate these structural differences with electrochemical characteristics of the layers. It was demonstrated that templates from the family of non-ionic surfactants with variable lengths of hydrophilic chains may significantly affect the photoinduced electrochemical responses of the produced particles. The key point of the study, the functional characterisation, was arranged as evaluation of the photoexcitation properties of the films with help of cyclic voltammetry, linear voltammetry, amperometry and open circuit potential measurements.
