Description
| - A spectroscopic study of the fast gas-filled capillary discharge was performed with survey soft X-ray flat field spectrograph. The aim of this study was to find the most plausible conditions for creation of population inversion in Ne-like Ar, the valence electron of which is efficiently excited to 3p (metastable) level by electron collisions, while lower lasing level 3s is rapidly de-populated by dipole-allowed transition. As soon as the conditions were reached, the strong spectral line at the wavelength of laser transition (46.9 nm) appeared and dominated in the spectrum even with exposition 50 ns.
