Description	With emerging high-speed rail connections around the world, airlines are forced to choose between three scenarios: competition, withdrawal or collaboration. Yet, the latter option is usually not seriously considered. There are few exceptions to this rule, for example collaboration between Royal Dutch Airlines and Thalys, between Air France and French National Railway Corporation or between Lufthansa and Deutsche Bahn. This paper analyses some aspects of current situation and future outlook for civil aviation and high-speed rail transport as well as already existing partnerships between airlines and high-speed rail operators in the world and it outlines collaboration scheme between these two transport modes in the future.
