  • Interferometric measurements are widely used for very low distances observation. Tens of nanometers are the obvious order of values determined by Michelson interferometer. Our Michelson interferometer was equipped with digital camera to pan the interference fringes in the imaging plane. The counting of fringes was performed by computer imaging. A small optical chamber was designed for changing the optical path in one of the light beams by changing the air pressure. The chamber was evacuated by hand vacuum pump and the shifted interference fringes were counted. The described simple technique showed the relative measurement uncertainty of about 5 % in the deviation of air refractive index from the vacuum refractive index. Moreover, using of interference fringes counting taken from the digital camera produced benefits in the lowering of possible human error. Recently the principle was used for creating a new illustrative laboratory measurement as a part of applied wave optics.

  • Interferometrická měření jsou široce užívána pro pozorování malých vzdáleností. Desítky nanometrů jsou řády hodnot určených pomocí Michelsonova interferometru. Náš Michelsonův interferometr byl spojen s digitální kamerou pro sledování interferometrických proužků v zobrazovací rovině. Proužky byly zobrazeny na LCD displeji počítače. Malá komora byla zkonstruována pro změnu optické dráhy jednoho paprsku pomocí změny tlaku vzduchu. Komora byla vyčerpávána ruční pumpičkou a byl počítán posuv interferenčních proužků. Popsaná jednoduchá technika vykazovala relativní nejistotu meření okolo 5% v odchylce indexu lomu vzduchu od indexu lomu vakua. (cs)
