Description
  • The goal of this work is to ease the migration of existing web applications to the cloud, particularly to bring the benefits of the developer-oriented PaaS (Platform as a Service) systems to the end user. After a research of existing cloud solutions, VMware Cloud Foundry was deemed most suitable for this effort. To bridge the gap between legacy applications written in PHP and the Java language supported by most PaaS services, the Quercus PHP over Java interpreter was used. After that, the automatic deployment SaaS (Software as a Service) web application called UpCF was developed. UpCF automates deployment of several popular open-source web applications like WordPress or Drupal into the cloud environment and is designed for users without any programming skills. Migration of proprietary applications is also possible using this approach.
