Description
| - The presentation focuses on analysis leading to development instrument designed for intensive medical care which is already produced for five years and received more awards for the design. Such instruments have to conform to high safety standards, yet still have to provide easily operational user interface for fast parameters setup and control in critical situations. A syringe pump for high-precision pharmaceutical dispensing is discussed in our particular case. The two independent processor system are used to achieve high instrument safety. The RTEMS executive has been chosen as the base operating environment for its well fitting set of features, real-time performance, robust design and success records in critical control applications. The user interface library (SuiTk) has been designed to allow user-friendly instrument operation. It is driven by an original nested state automata concept. The automata, styles, data connections and all visual elements are build from description provided in XML files.
