  • Single-chip digital color cameras are dominating on the market. Using three high resolution chips with a color splitting system is rather complicated and expensive. The single-chip cameras with the on-chip color filter array (CFA) need relevant technique for reconstruction of full color information. Numerous demosaicing techniques have been proposed and applied. This paper compares several recent selected demosaicing methods. The performance of each technique has been assessed by the PSNR metric. Altogether four different demosaicing techniques have been tested and evaluated. The results of experimental verification are presented esp. related to the appearance and creation of color artifacts. The test images ColorStripes, Lighthouse and ColorCircle have been applied for the evaluation.
