Description
| - The OPNET Modeler is a leading network modeling and simulation environment. Recently, several simulation models of the IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee protocols have been proposed. Nevertheless, currently available models are both inaccurate and incomplete, and in particular they do not support the GTS mechanism, which is required for time-sensitive wireless sensor applications. The idea behind this simulation model was triggered by the need to build a very reliable model of the IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee protocols, which have recently been adopted as a communication standard for wireless sensor networks. Hence, we have implemented an OPNET simulation model which supports physical and data link layers of the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol in beacon-enabled mode, and ZigBee network layer supporting cluster-tree topology. Compared with the other simulation models, our simulation model allows a simulation study of the real-time behavior of IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee cluster-tree networks.
